Al-Taj News – Jordan ranked 50th globally in the 2026 Economic Freedom Index, among 165 countries and territories covered by the annual Economic Freedom of the World report, scoring 7.38 out of 10 based on 2024 data.
The report classified the Kingdom in the second quartile globally, which includes countries with above-average levels of economic freedom, while its performance stood out in the “Sound Money” area, in which it ranked third globally, with a score of 9.59 points.
The report, issued annually by Canada’s Fraser Institute, evaluates economic freedom based on a set of indicators that measure the extent to which individuals are able to engage in economic activities, retain their property, and trade freely within specific legal, regulatory, and monetary frameworks. The 2026 edition relies primarily on data from 2024.
Jordan’s most notable achievement came in the “Sound Money” area, where it secured third place globally with a score of 9.59 points, with only Switzerland and Finland ranking ahead of Jordan worldwide in this indicator.
This area measures the ability of monetary policies to provide a stable currency by controlling the growth of the money supply, managing inflation fluctuations, and allowing bank accounts to be opened in foreign currencies.
